Op 19 december werd er op een feestelijke wijze afscheid genomen van 2014. Namelijk met een groot Kerstfeest!
Nu (3 januari) inclusief Kerstschaakpuzzel!!
Less than a week to go to Christmas and this year around 40 VASers celebrated with what we hope will be the first of many VAS Kerstfeests.
The first thing to note which made this event very nice was not only a good attendance of both junior and senior members but also that some members decided to bring along family and friends.
The table football table was tested out by the daughter and son of Joris Van Vuure, just 5 and 3 years old respectively. I can’t tell you the result of this warm up match sadly… What I can tell you is that Daddy Van Vuure used to play international table football tournaments around 20 years ago and doesn’t seem to have lost his touch, winning all his games and taking down the title of table football champion.
Delightful christmas music was playing throughout the night which many members seemed to thoroughly enjoy. There was also a feast on offer courtesy of the attendees and this was enjoyed throughout the night by everyone. And there was even a free drink or two for everyone courtesy of the VAS bar! Kinderbubbles or Prosecco or Baileys was on offer.
The junior football tournament was taken down by Branco, Daan, Koen and Akram. This was not to be the only candy that Branco won as he also was the only person to solve the ‘U1500 2014 puzzle’ (see photo to come tomorrow) and also participated in the late night poker tournament (for no money of course!)
The poker was a great success with 11 players taking part but without a shadow of doubt the best tournament of the night was Milan’s ‘bingo chess’ which had around 18-20 participants. Sietske was the first to get one row, I got two rows first, Niels was the first to fill the whole card with the 16 bingo ‘missions’ we had each been assigned (for example double check, Lxf7/Lxf2+, etc.) The winner of the chess portion of this tournament was Victor Hendriks with 7/7!
In truth though everybody who attended was a winner, a great fun event which everyone enjoyed!
Look out in 2015 for the ‘Friends of VAS chess tournament’, a special GM simul event, a summer BBQ/picnic and for sure another Kerstfeest (amongst other things)
